S&W 4040PD?

Fastbolt, thanks,
I couldn't explain why it would not work for Jon96,
Because I never had that happen to me.
I know that the grips are a direct replacement for the 908, 3913 and the 4040PD.
They are the same P/N on/in the S&W website.

Hey Fastbolt and Bad_Man, Thanks for taking the time to look into this. I previously tried for a while to get it on, but the 3913/908 grip is too horizontally long to fit. When the pin holes are aligned you can see that it overlaps the tang and blocks the decocker. You can see with this pic.

When I get around to it I'll give S&W a call and order a LS grip just for the heck of it. Interesting to note is that the Hogues on the 4040 are from my 908

I admit when I saw these posts just a bit ago a tried it again with excitement as I dug into my box-o-gun parts. So thanks guys.

Jon96,
Since my I last reply with the post to Fastbolt,
I removed my 4040PD grip and swapped it with the 3913NL and purposely
did not put it under the grip tang properly and it looks just like yours.
Get it in up top and it will go, trust me.

Hey Bad Man, I tried it again just as you mentioned, but to no avail. I double checked the packing list from S&W when I ordered to sets of the grips- #203560000. I might just have to accept the fact of just using Hogues. Thanks.

Well well... I just switched the plastic grip off the 908 and onto the 4040 and it fit! And I just put the one I tried to get onto the 908 and it didn't fit

.... so I broke out the 457 and switched grips with the trouble maker one and guess what? Looks like S&W sent the wrong grip

So thanks again gentlemen for your time and patience. Problem solved!

Jon96,
I'm glad that you found out the answer to this dilemma.
It must be a grip for a 4013 single stack and the 4516.
That's the grip that I'm going to get to see if I can make a grip for my CS40 and take off the Hogue's, they're to fat for me and also grab on my clothing.

Greetings all, this is very interesting, I'm thinking there's some kind of conspiracy going on. Back in Sept of last year, I ordered a set of grips for my 3913 from Brownels. After I received them, I tried putting them on and it wouldn't fix. I pulled out my used 4516 that I only had a set of Hogues for and sure enough, they fit perfect. Since I had wanted to get a set of factory grips for the 4516, I never contacted Brownels to let them know of the issue. Well, a few months later, I decided that I still wanted a set of original grips for my 3913. This time i ordered 2 sets from Numrich. When I received them, guess what? Neither set would fit my 3913 but they were a perfect fit for the 4516. I sent them back and to date have not received replacements. I was thinking about ordering a set direct from S&W but now I'm scared too. Has anyone else ordered a set of factory grips for their 3913 series pistols from any source and actually gotten the correct grips??

Cheers....Obi-GUN

Well Obi-gun, S&W got the order half right as opposed to the other two you mentioned

Give them a call and express your concern about the accuracy of the ordered part.

Good luck.

Guys and Girls,
For the life of me,
I can't understand why anyone would order a Smith and Wesson part (as long as it is in stock)
from anywhere other than Smith and Wesson.
Add some recoil springs and magazine springs and followers, etc. to amortize the shipping cost.
You know you will be getting factory parts, not some possibly obsolete, overstock parts.
I ALWAYS go to Smith and Wesson first and have ALWAYS been happy.
They will ship the proper grip, if not, call.
They will get it right.
You can pick out the P/N from their web site to check cross reference, before you call:

JUST BOUGHT/SHOT

Bought a 4040PD yesterday-Massachusetts, $400.00 plus tax. Shot it today. Looks perfect, shoots better. Why did S&W stop making them? Whey didn't the public buy them? Answer-plastic is cheaper, but no panache, for sure.
