My 41 likes to eat anything from Walmart so far. Looking for tighter groups. What ammo are people using in Bullseye competition or similar accuracy based sport? Thanks.

How small groups do you need? We shoot a winter bullseye league. I'm not a bullseye shooter but we have had this discussion and I've shot groups (rested) with different ammo in several of their 41's. We shoot the 50 ft cof and virtually any of the bulk ammo will keep 10 rds clustered inside the 10 ring on the slow fire target. The differences between the usual standard, CCI standard velocity, and the more expensive stuff vs Fed or Win bulk ammo, at least at 50 ft, was at most very small.

There seemed to be more to be gained by having ammo the gun runs reliabley so you're not shooting alibi strings.

We shoot outdoors, from 50 yards. Mine looks like a shotgun blast. Haha. Just want to use target ammo.

Most guys will shoot CCI SV. I have seen some shoot Wolf, S&K, Lapua, and Eley products however. Reliability is extremely important in sustained fire. You've got 10 minutes in slow fire to deal with an issue so there I worry about accuracy.

CCI

CCI reliably cycles S&W41's. Other 22 ammo has been problematic in my 41.

CCI standard velocity gives me good accuracy, and excellant reliability, except in cold weather. I think the wax lube is affected by the cold. In cold weather I use CCI mini mags. Accuracy stays about the same but that little extra power overcomes a sluggish slide. If I want the tightest groups possible, I go to CCI Green Tag. Although I have never tried it in cold weather so I can't comment on reliability in the cold.
