Howdy folks,
I sighted in my newest Ultra-Dot today with my late-model 41 with 7.5" barrel. I had 3 types of ammo to try, Federal 711B Gold Medal Match, Wolf Match Target and CCI SV. Tried the 711B first. After one box of ammo, the pistol started doubling occasionally, which I blamed on poor trigger control over the sandbag. Midway through the second box of 711B, the pistol burped out 4 or 5 rounds, 3 times in a row. Funny thing was, most of the rounds stayed in the center of the 25 yard Bull, but I had enough, and switched to my old faithful Wolf MT. No doubling or Class 3 stuff, just one ragged hole, one inch below poa from the 711B. Next up was CCI SV, and again, no doubling or worse, just another ragged hole dead-center of the Bull.
Do you folks think I need to clean my trigger assembly, change my firing pin and/or spring, or clean up my trigger work, or is 711B coming out with thin priming cups? I ask about the priming sensitivity because my dedicated Bullseye gun, a Benelli MP90s, will also go full-auto with 711B, and only 711B. The difference in the MP90s and the 41 is that the trigger on the 90s is two-stage, and I am well used with it, with over 40,000 rounds through it. The S&W sees occasional back-up use or gets shot whenever I want to see Blue steel and 10-round mags, so not shot as much as fondled
Any ideas are appreciated.....Arman4461
