I have got my hands on a S&W 422 in the original box, in top condition. Can anyone tell me what it's worth?

The short, snappy answer is "what you paid for it" :). The long answer is this was an early promotional package for the 422, so I would guess about $400 or so. In the current ammo shortage someone might give you $100 for the box of .22 LR...

Good estimate I'd say. :) A used one in top condition, with flawless wood grips but without its original box, just went for $300 locally. I think this is a situation where the original box complete should add a good, solid $75-$125... possibly even more if you go national and find the right S&W collector. :)

Must be a little artistic license being used here... Nobody on this planet (even the dumbest of the folks out there) would pay $100 for a 50rd box of junk Remington rimfire ammo.

The whole box MINUS the pistol certainly has value, but I am not sure where S&W placed the end label. If it was on the end flap of THAT carton, splitting the box and the pistol would reduce the value of BOTH the pistol and box. For certain.

I do agree that $400 or a bit more seems like the right ballpark for that setup. If it's unfired and un-handled and dead mint... then probably more.

Pistol, all on it's own, somewhere in the $300 range.

I own a 622 and it is one of my favorite pistols.
