I have 400gr cast bullets and IMR-4227 (and TrailBoss)

I have thoroughly read my 'ABCs of Reloading', 'Lyman Pistol and Revolver', and the 'Nosler' Manual that came with my RCBS 101 kit.

Wondering what manual would be the next best one to buy. I've heard that the Lee and Lyman 49th, or Lyman Cast are good for the combo I have.
Do I really need to buy all these manuals?
Best one for 500 Cast?

Cheers,

Shooting cast?

Get the Lyman Cast Reloading Handbook. It's different from the Lyman 49th which also includes plenty of cast loads.

If you are shooting cast, the Lyman is essential.

PS: Don't worry about finding Trail Boss loads. The old "fill the case to the base of the bullet, weigh it, then use 70% of that as a starting load and work up from there" trick is all the data you need.

Since you already have the ABC's you might look for a '1 caliber 1 book' booklet. They are an inexpensive compendium of several different component suppliers and have a great deal of data. I think they cost 6.99 at cabelas or sportsmens. I think they make one for 500 s&w.

Thanks. I've heard that about TrailBoss. (fill er up).

Just wondered what the 'best' manual I for my needs, rather than spending hundreds on several. (I've already got a few) I'm concentrating on S&W 500 right now, but will soon be doing 30-06 and .357.

The thing about manuals is that they're usually wrapped in plastic....so you can't photo them, I guess. I'd like to flick thru a few before deciding which one serves me best.
