Lighten load for my 52 was using 2.8 then 2.5 gr of N310. Tried 2.3 gr of the 310 last night. Using 148 gr full wad cutters, Federal primers and Federal brass. The slide and ejector functioned flawlessly. No hang-ups at all.
NAVY~ I am just about to embark on this long delayed project. Am using 1 fired Winchester match brass with 3.4 W231, and WSP. Hope it works out as I have 17 boxes ready to load. Here is my 52, with her Ivory.
JR your load is pretty much what I have been using for about 25 years. I use Hornady 148 grain HBWCs over 3.3 grains W 231 with a light roll crimp using Winchester or RP brass and Federal primers.
If my memory serves me right, I started shooting my 52 back in the late 70's or 1980. The only round that was ever shot thru it was a 148 HOLLOW BASE FULL WADCUTTER WITH 2.7grs. OF BULLSEYE POWDER. All our Officers that shot on the pistol team shot 52's with Aimpoints on them. I think we went UNDEFEATED for about 10 years or more shooting that round......................CookE
My standard load for ca. 4 decades has been the Remington 148 gr. LHBWC, 2.8 gr. Bullseye, Rem 1.5 primer. Functions flawlessly in my 52-1 and was used previously in revolvers.
JR I see your mags have been modified to hold 6 rounds, I put an ad in the S G News several years ago to modifiy them and never got a call. Did my mags to shot PPC with my 52. Jeff
JR, that is the first modified magazine I have seen beyond my 3 and a bunch that I did for some shooters in the club I was in back in the early '80's. I, too used my 52-2 to shoot PPC for a few years before getting my first Colt 70 Series. Still have that 52 and it still shoots great. My load is 2.9 grains of Bullseye under 148 grain FWC.
