I bought this revolver about 20 years ago. Somehow I researched it and was told it was a "Police Positive" made in the 1920's.

I now want to document that, but don't know how. Its Serial number is D2800X. Its finish is near perfect.

The Police Positive is a Colt model. They look pretty different. It may still be stamped that the caliber is .38 SW Special, but it would still be a Colt if it is indeed A Police Positive. Does the cylinder release push forward or back. Colt's pull back, S&W's push forward.

nhoop. Welcome to the Forum. That serial number is a Colt serial number for a Police Positive model, chambered in .38 S&W caliber. It should also chamber .38 Colt New Police cartridges. You could post your question on the Colt Forums and probably get more info., such as the ship date, etc. Ed
