S&W 60-15...New to me!

Hello...been awhile since I've been on the site...have a few updates and wanted to share and get a few experienced opinions!

First, I've kinda gotten hooked on S&W J-Frame revolvers these past few years...I have two (2) 360J's - a .38 Special and a .357 magnum with an unfluted cylinder...as well as a 351C in .22 Mag for the wife!

Second, and recently, I picked up a S&W 60-15 3" J-Frame, all stainless steel, with a Trijicon Tritium front night sight, and I cannot believe how nicely it balances, lines-up sight-wise, and fits in the grip!

Does anyone else have a Model 60-15 (or any model 60 for that matter) and what is your opinion of it?

I expect your enthusiasm will be contagious with a number of J frame aficionados. I only have a few J frames and am not qualified in the models that you have mentioned. Closest would be my model 60-4 with adjustable sights, very handy size and memorable accuracy.

I bought my Model 60-15 in 2015. Love the fit and finish. Don't like shooting .357's in it and I don't like the sights but it is fun with either the .38 special or +P's.

Nice pick up on the 60-15! That one is on my radar to get eventually as I think it would be a nice woods/trail firearm. I love the slabside barrel with the contoured under lug. The closest thing I own that almost compares is my model 649. Give it a good clean/lube and get that trigger broken...then report back!

Replace the grips with Pach's and 357mag is most shootable.
I find mine one nice woods/ trail gun.
The 3in barrel is long enough to get speed from the mag but short enough to be handy.
The sights will "put em where you want them"
5 shots are a plenty [of mag]
and it is very narrow allowing inside the belt if needed.
I have shot clear up to "Groo monsters maulers"[180 /to200 hard cast 357's at full pressure" and carry in or out in a Simple rugged pancake
and forget it is there...

I also have a 2015 vintage model 60-15.

Great shooter - better than me - and my example has been mechanically flawless.

Regularly shoot (and carry) either .38 Spl. and .38 +P with the occasional cylinder of .357, just 'cause....

Normally carried IWB in a Milt Sparks VMII; extremely comfortable.

It's my only S&W with the IL but this hasn't given me a moment's pause.

Congratulations on a fine revolver! I picked up mine a few years ago. I still have the wood grips on it, but I'm considering following Groovy advice. I usually keep it loaded with Speer Short Barrel 135 grain .357's.

Be sure that you keep an eye on the screws after shooting as they like to loosen up. Including the sight screws and the cylinder release screw.

I've carried this Model 60-15 in a Simply Rugged pancake.

My friend, if you think C19 was/is contagious, its got nothin' on the J-frame bug!!!! Welcome to the party and, by the way, don't bother even attempting to vaccinate, I've been at the J's for good while and haven't found a cure yet........Not that I have looked all that hard!

I only shoot .38 Specials in my 60-15 so I fit a .38 Special cylinder to it. A lot easier to clean after a day at the range. Speer Gold Dot Short Barrel +P is the ammo of choice for carry, use the same bullet with Accurate #5 for range work.

My 60-15 is fairly new but it is my favorite firearm, period. I put Hogue grips on and find .357 loads are fine with them. I did find the full power .357 just a little much with the factory grips.

I shoot mine frequently for range fun with mild .357 loads, or with 38 loads. I have done nothing to it other than the grips, and the trigger is just fine and getting better with use.

I use mine as my EDC even with the 3" barrel and find it very comfortable IWB with a Simply Rugged pancake holster.

I used to have a M60-15 and it was the best woods gun I've ever carried. I made the huge mistake of trading mine for a 6" M19-3 in nickel. I figured I was coming out ahead dollar wise. So I no longer have a fun to shoot M60 and instead I have a M19 that just sits in the safe. Swap out the grips for either Pachmayer "Compacs" or my favorites, Uncle Mikes Combats, and magnums will be no problem.
