I have been watching auction sites and listings for 610's, so I have a good idea of what the current going prices are for the 610's. I would like to know what others opinions are here as far as whether it would be worth buying at these prices or waiting. Do you think prices will come back down or what do you think the odds are of S&W doing another run of the 610? I did a search for more info on the 610's but couldn't find anything that described what the major differences are between the 610, 610-1, and 610-3. Can anyone explain those? I am wanting to purchase a 6.5" or 5" and currently have the opportunity to purchase a 6.5" 610-2 BNIB for $1250. I don't know a whole lot about the revolvers, but want to get one to complete my 10mm collection.

I find it difficult to believe that all you need is a 610 to "Complete" your 10MM collection. There are many 10MM enthusiasts on the forum (including myself) that would love to see your collection.

Personally I do not pay too much attention to engineering revisions when I am looking to buy a revolver. I own two 610s and a 310 and have no clue which revisions they are. I have had all of mine opened up so that they can safely fire 40 S&W, 10MM Auto or 10MM Magnum

There is no doubt that S&W will one day make more 10MM revolvers. The question is do you want to enjoy one today? Is it worth a $100 or $200 premium to you to get one 'x' years before the next production?

The truth is, if you keep it for 10 or 20 or 30 years who cares if you overpaid a little. By the time you sell it they will be going for $3000 or $4000 or who knows what.

I love carrying this one

I guess I should have worded my post better. I am on a quest to complete the 10mm collection and the 610 is one of the guns that I still need to purchase. I am also missing the 1086, 1046, and the 310. The next one on my list is the 1086.

I have been doing all my transfers through a LGS and the owner is also a 10mm fan, but pretty familiar with prices on them. He's the one that mentioned he has a BNIB 610-2. I also had an individual reply to one of my adds with a 610-3 LNIB for $1250 also.

I currently have 2 1006's, 1 1026, 1 1066, and 3 1076's. I probably would have picked up some of the ones I don't have sooner if I had not gotten distracted by some good deals and thus the multiples of the 1076's and 1006.

I was planning on posting some pictures of my collection, but the pictures are to big to post on here and am unfamiliar with how to get a pictures size down enough to post on here.
