Probably the best route to take.
Being an impressionable, gun magazine reading kid when the original 610’s came out, they were always a grail gun to me. Finally got a four inch -3 back in 2007 or 2008. IIRC, even with an extended firing pin and a duty action job by a noteworthy smith, it was always a choice of a too heavy trigger pull to achieve 100% ignition, or a decent pull and not quite good enough reliability.
Then I found .41 Magnums and realized an N frame is a real inefficient platform to launch 10mm or .40 from.
Kept a bunch of 10mm’s but ditched the 610.
You can run .40 thru the 610, but carbon will build up just ahead of the case and make in difficult to chamber 10mm, much like .38 Special does in a .357 Magnum. You will need to scrub the chambers with a little extra attention to detail.
