Hello,

I have the opportunity to buy a 625-6 in 45ACP. It has no-lock but does have MIM parts and in frame firing pin.

My question is about the barrel. It has a 4 inch barrel that is the same thin tapered barrel as on Mountain Guns. This one does not say Mountain Gun and does not have the beveled cylinder (black powder cylinder) of the Mountain guns.

Is this a special model or is there anything rare/special about it?

Thank you.

The serial number would give us (me) the manufacture time frame.

I have a 625-6 Mountain Gun in 45 A.C.P.
the serial # is CDU900* . .
MIM parts and no internal lock.

Maybe the gun you are looking at has had the
markings polished off the barrel.

We need more detail about what you are looking at.

I also own a Mountain Gun and this is not one...I think. Does your 625-6 Mt Gun have the beveled cylinder?

The barrel has not been polished. The barrel has roll marked or stamped markings on both sides. Left is .45 ACP, right shows Smith & Wesson.

The serial number is a CFA series but I do not know any more. I may go back if my interest stays.

I have a 625-6 Mountain Gun in 45LC with forged parts. The cylinder is beveled. Not sure if this really proves anything, but it does show there must have been wide variations in the -6 run.

Regarding the 625 Mtn. guns (both pre-lock), I think the ACP -6 was circa 2000 and had MIM hammer/trigger. The Colt -6 was 1996 and was pre-MIM. (SCSW)

The serial number is a CFA series

December 2001 to January of 2002.

A 5-inch .45 ACP -6 from this era would be product code 100927, and the barrel would likely be marked MODEL OF 1989. Pre-lock with the new frame, which normally means the hammer and trigger are MIM.

By May of 2002 the these guns had the lock and they became -8's. A 4-inch gun had the product code of 160935 and the 5-inch became 160927, but they were still marked MODEL OF 1989.

Thank you for your replies.
I really like 625 in 45acp. The 4 inch barrel is very well balanced.

If these did not cost money I would have more!!!

Welcome to the FORUM! My 625-8 JM, is currently my most shot gun. Have added HI-VIZ front sight. Works for me! Enjoy your 625! Bob
