Since I originally posted a picture of my new 627 PC Snubby several weeks ago, there has been a lot of PMs about the Fluted Cylinder and whether there were any MIM parts in the Performance Center model. I was in contact with S&W this morning to research this gun. The particular 627 based upon the serial number was made in May, 2010 with a fluted cylinder. S&W advised that in May, 2010 they made a bunch of fluted as well as unfluted guns in the PC Section. The 627 PC does not have any MIM parts in it according to S&W. The rep i spoke with advised that in June forward they used unfluted cylinders in their 627, 629, & 657 model snubbys. Hope this helps some.

Well I ordered those grips, the 5 Star speedloader, and finally California will allow me to begin the paperwork for my very own unfluted 627 next Thursday:-)

PS there's an unfluted one on Gunsamerica right now for $884 delivered for those fence sitters out there.

Thanks for the info, exfebee. Great photography, too :)

Just ordered one of these (I'll let the cylinder configuration be a surprise) and a case of Top Ramen, har.

Great looking gun....but, I hate to tell you....it may need to go back to S&W for warranty work. Looks like the IL is broken.

Hi Guys
Just ordered one of these from Bud's I didn't ask about the cylinder configuration either, so when it arrives at my FFL it will be a surprise also. Couldn't believe my eye's that they were on the CA DOJ approved list.
Thanks,

Hi Craig,
There was a recent posting where the 627 PC Snubby just went on the CA list within the past couple or so weeks. Thanks to one of our members here who called the correct people & got the ball rolling. Theres been a lot of interest in this piece. Good luck with yours.
Carl..

Love the looks of this gun. You did well on the grips. 8x is some nice firepower.

I love the exposed ejection rod window.

Makes me want to watch Blood Work again.

Yup, they've gota come out with "Blood Work - 2" The Sequel where Clint carries one in each coat pocket. Two-Gun Clint.. Make My Day.

I just got one so new it smells like the factory..........test fired on 8-16.
Unfluted cylinder, and those Eagle stocks, that really don't need the finger cutouts. Almost no one has two fingers that big, and if not, the ring finger perches on the point of the wood between the grooves.
Still, damned nice revolver.

I think it was a fluted gun, and all the scenes reflect that. And Clint's gun obviously had Hogues on it. Not sure if it came that way, or was retrofitted for his big mitts. He could hold a 29 the way I hold a 60 :)
Are there any good pics of the whole gun anywhere, it didn't get the kind of screen time and presence of the 29 in the Dirty Harry pics.

Congrats on your new "critter" Anton. Know you'll love it. Good hefty weight. Shoots 357s all day long. My mitts are a little large for the Boot grips. The ones that are on mine are the S&W Product Code: 414170000 & ran $49.00 plus shipping. Feels great. Boy, test fired on 8/16. That one was "just hatched". Let us know how you like it.

Hope to shoot it tomorrow, if the range is open. Not sure because of Labor Day weekend.
I intend to check out the stocks you referenced , Carl.

Is the 627 PC relieved for moon clips? If it is, is there a problem using it without the clip? I am considering one but I don't want it if you have to use moon clips. The picture doesn't show a moon clip but I thought I read on the S&W Webb site that they are cut for the clip. Can someone enlighten me?

Hope I didn't step on anyone's toes with my question. I don't mean to steal the thread. . . . .sorry.

Here's a few from a website link I found..
I watched this movie last night BTW..
The grips do appear to be Hogue..

Meeteetse,
Yes you can also use Speed Loaders with the 627. Theres a couple i know of, maybe more out there. The 5-Star at $25.00 and the Thunder Rance at $60.00 each. Both made out of Aircraft Aluminum of some kind. I have the 5-Star & heres a picture. Carry mine in a DiSantis (large) " 2nd Six" model pouch. By taking out the two bottom screws on the pouch it becomes the "2nd Eight" whereas 4 of the bullets go in back of your belt & four in the front. It pulls in real well & doesn't stick out under a jacket.. etc. Best of luck.

I have both the 5 star and the thunder ranch. The thunder ranch are much more secure in holding the rounds but are pretty expensive and posistion sensitive in loading.
