Do you guys know anyone who will convert a S&W 629-6 to 45 Colt?

I called Dave Clements (he no longer works on S&Ws) and Frank Smith is in the hospital.

Who else is there that is cheaper than buying a Colt Anaconda?

Is S&W ever going to build full lug stainless N frames in 45 Colt?

Where do I find a 4+" full lug stainless double action Ruger Blackhawk in 45 Colt?

I searched and saw a fellow name Jack Huntington who will do the work reasonably.

That's all that's left it seems.

There is now a full lug RedHawk but it may be 44 mag only. I'm not sure, but that's not what you want.

I think you'll be very happy with Jack's work. Priced reasonable, pretty quick turn around, and he's a great guy to deal with.

Look for a 625-5. 1550 of them were made in the early 1990's and they show up on Gunbroker with some regularity.

I'm currently the high bidder on the only one listed.

It's NIB and will be over in less than 5 hours.

$1,875 is a high price to pay for a shooter though.

That's why I'd like to have a few built to shoot, I don't forsee 629-6s being rare and collectable like the aforementioned 625-5.

Alex Hamilton can do this job properly at a reasonable price.

Alex is a total gentleman and a pleasure to work with. You can reach him here:

Hope this helps.

He's doing an action job on a 617 no dash I've got right how. I have nothing but good things to say about Alex and his work.

Rock Mtn. Ram, 45 Colt

Look for a 625-5. 1550 of them were made in the early 1990's...

They also made a 5" full lug 45 Colt, Model 25-13, in 2004. Just 300 though.

Another pinto, but this one's blue & silver (M25-13, 45 Colt, Rocky Mtn. Ram)

.

I know it kills S&W to stamp "45 Colt CTG" on the barrel but it sure would be nice if they could "get over it" & produce some more. ;)

Its not a hard conversion if you can find a 45 caliper full lug stainless barrel. I have done it with 2 model 629-1s and a -6 would be no different. Ream a cylinder to 45 colt. Install the 45 acp barrel, most are just marked 45 caliber. Not 45 acp anyway. An acp barrel need about .10 trimmed off the barrel extension and the forcing cone recut.
Here is a 4" and a 5". I have another barrel and another 629-1 that will probably end up together. No, I don't do others guns. No FFL.

S&W 629-6 found

I found a 6.5" S&W 629-6 Deluxe on gunbroker for $647 shipping and FFL and sent it to Jack Huntington the first of October. Maybe I'll get it back in time to shoot hogs while it's still cool.
