I'm wanting to buy me a revolver in 44mag.
I was looking at the 629 3in deluxe or is taurus good enof and worth it. If I do get the taurus ill also get me a maverick 88 with the foldable stock just something to play with.
So 629 3in vs getting two firearms taurus & maverick.

Taurus is a 50/50 bet. Right now they are building a new location in Georgia. How enthused are the current employees in Miami as they assemble your firearm knowing their job is leaving.

I think you meant to post this in the revolver forum, one up from this one.

The only Taurus revolver I owned was a model 94 22 that had to go back to the factory twice for things like a timing issue that prevented SA firing and a barrel that twisted so much the sights could not be adjusted. And even by 22 revolver standards the trigger was not great. Get the S&W.

If you want a smaller 44 look at the S&W 69. I really like mine and it has a lot of other fans here. Its also a little less expensive that the 629. Truth be told it makes a better 44 special than 44 magnum as a range gun. But if you want a light 44 to carry in the woods or a great range gun for 44 special or weak magnum loads the 69 is a great option. I like the way it balances and feels in my hand better than the larger 629.

Get the 629 if you want one quality gun, buy the Taurus and Maverick if you want 2 lesser quality firearms...

Welcome to the Forum "Freedom isn't free Freedom". Good question I would recommend the S&W 629 Deluxe also, but in the 6.5”. LGS and pawn shops have plenty of used Taurus's.

Easy. 629. You'll never regret buying quality. Especially should you ever need to sell .)
The Taurus and Maveric 88's are not considered "A" players in the firearms world.
You get what you pay for.

Another vote for the Mod 69. Everything you'd like in a 629, but in a smaller package. :D

I regularly shoot magnum loads through mine and it's a pleasant shooter. With 44 Specials, it's a dream.

Taurus? Isn't that some astrology thing?

What kind of ammo will you shoot? Just underpowered range ammo, or something stout for use on the trail?
