i just picked up a 63-3 ser.no. BBZ4XXX at the gun show.can someone give me a DOB for this. it is like new and came with paper blue box. i had one back in 1982 but sold it later but not this one. thanks guys. also what does the -3 stand for.

According to SCSW3, the serial numbers starting with BBT thru BDE were produced between October 1988 and Feb. 1989. The dash numbers indicate engineering and production changes - dash 3 was a new yoke retention system/radius stud package in 1989. The model 63 was discontinued, I believe in 1999 and has recently been re-introduced as an 8 shot J frame with 5" half lug bbl.. I have a 63-4 which was new from the factory on 9/28/09. The serial number is CMYXXXX. Hope this helps.
