S&W 65-5…first revolver purchase

I've got a 65-3 3" marked "BRPD" (Baton Rouge" that I bought about 15 years ago for $400.00. It's one of my favorites. At that time the guy who sold it to me had a pile of them, including 4" models. He was a dealer who got them at a police auction. I still kick myself for not getting the 4". It was $350.00. If you hang around here for a while I'm sure you'll find some more nice revolvers, but not that cheap.

Not knowing the market at all I figured I couldn’t go wrong with the price. Figured any Smith revolver in good shape should be worth at least $200. I walked out the door for $400 for both of them.

I thought I was doing good paying $425 for each of mine. You got the deal of the century.

I have a M65, 3" RB and made it my designated Woods gun. GREAT gun, simple, clean, accurate ad reliable. Nice score!!!

Cleaned them up a little tonight. Look to be pretty nice shape. One has a small ding in the trigger guard. But overall pretty nice shape.

I've had my S&W Model 65-1 since 1977, new for $200 bucks. My second gun, first one was my S&W Model 19. It was my backpacking gun until I ran across an angry black bear way back in the woods. We both lived. Now I carry my 629-4 44 Mag loaded with 310gr. Garrett's Hammerhead hard cast bullet.

You should report immediately to your local Sheriff’s Department and turn yourself in for committing a Grand Theft crime!

You did good! If that was the asking price, my elbow would been dislocated, reaching for my wallet!. I never seem to find that sort of deal!
