S&W 66-1

Any help would be appreciated. I have this 66-1 that my wife bought in the 70's as her duty weapon when she went into LE. It appears to have some sort of modification done to the left grip panel maybe to accommodate a speed loader. She graduated to an auto and I bought the 66 from her. I used it when I worked part time in LE. I sent it onto Mag-Na-Port to have that done. The serial # is 37K18XX. Anyone seen this grip mod before? Can someone help with the date also, please. Thanks.

That's In fine shape! Can't help with the grips but the serial dates it to 1978/1979.

I've seen a lot of left-side stock panels like that. Done to accommodate a speed loader.
