My slice of paradise
I found a 66-5 with a 2.5" barrel and adj. sights in about 98% condition that I can get for $400 cash. I currently carry an airweight .38 J frame, so this seems like more of a fun toy than something I'd carry for everyday SD...although I'd for sure take it hiking/camping. How do these guns typically fare as far as accuracy goes with heavier bullets? Are they more suited to lighter weight bullets or lighter loads in general since it's a K frame and not an L frame? Also, is $400 a pretty decent deal? I only found a couple that have actually sold in the past 90 days on gunbroker and they seem to have gone for more, but I don't think internet auction sites are always accurate for gauging value since shill bidding is rampant. Any thoughts?

I would have dislocated my shoulder reaching for my wallet - that is an excellent price if the gun is in the condition you say it is.

I have a -2 2 12 and for $400 I would have two. I can't answer the ammo questions. I just carry my 38 125 gold dots or 125 HP 357's. But I carry my 642 most of the time.

Price is excellent...as previously noted, you should have snagged it..that sounds like a snooze you lose deal to me. I would buy it even if I had to get money from the wife to pay for it!

Great deal; snap it up. Also, don't discount it as a viable CCW piece. Unlike certain gunwriters, I DO believe that carrying a gun SHOULD be comfortable, and I carried my snub Model 19 all day yesterday, doing an inventory, and out and about shopping with the girlfriend, in complete comfort. A good holster and belt is a must. I've got a Lobogunleather pancake, and a good off the rack belt that fits the holster loops just right, and it carries fantastic. With the right combo, the weight is not noticed by me at all. All this combo requires is a good cover garment, and it has none of the discomfort of an IWB holter, which I've come to dislike. If you want a tucked in shirt, carry your J frame in a pocket, and problem solved!

I paid less than that for mine, but then I bought a whole box full! That is an excellent price on a fine handgun. Easy to tote with the proper holster. You might prefer a slightly larger set of stocks if you have large hands, or God forbid, a Tyler T adapter.

I've got a 2.5 66 no dash. It's been in my carry rotation since I got it and works great in that capacity. You got yours for a great price. Congratulations!
