I have never taken apart the magazine. Directions would be greatly appreciated. Tips on cleaning and parts replacement would also be great!

Not a 6906 but the procedure is the same: YouTube - Magazine disassembly

Clean like any other gun parts with your favorite solvent. The follower wears where it hits the slide stop, the gun won't stay open on the last shot if it's worn. The spring wears on compress/release cycles not age or storing rounds.

Thank you for the link. It seems easy enough. Iam going to inspect all of my mags by taking them apart. How often would you replace the spring?

I've had the same springs for years. It's not the age that determines spring life per se it's the number of compress/recoil cycles the spring has gone thru. I've got a 15 round mag loaded for years and the spring is still good.

My experience is it's the followers that wear out first. The wear is where the follower hits the slide stop pin. As long as the gun loads and ejects OK I don't change the spring.

I do change the recoil spring about around 5K rounds which is around every 5 years for me. An indication of spring life on my 6906 was the slide did not stay open after the last round. Replacing the recoil spring fixed the problem.

Followers are realy cheap. I just may purchase a couple of them and keep hem handy. I was at a gun show recently and its amazing what people are asking for a 12 round 9mm magazine for the 6906. The cheapest was $30 and as high as $40!

Meanwhile, I remember purchasing 2 magazines for $13 bucks each at a small gun shop.
