S&W 909

I just acquired a 909 yesterday via a trade. It is a one owner gun with less than 100 rounds through it. When I saw the pistol it just called my name, maybe because the first pistol I ever owned was model 910.....I should have never parted with that gun. I used that gun through the police academy and then on the streets my first year. Sold it and bought a Glock because everyone else was carrying the Glock....man, peer pressure sucks.

Anyways, now I have this pistol and need a little help. I have found magazines via the interweb, but finding a holster is proving to be problematic. What other model numbers are the same size as the 909? In other words, if a holster is made for a 5906, will the 909 fit the holster?

Thanks in advance for any help you all can give a fng with a Gen 3 fetish...

P.S. I sold/traded all my Glock stuff and got M&P's....now I'm afraid that these gen 3 Smiths are going to start digging off in my pocket.....

Probably not the 909 is part of the value series. While there good guns they were not finished to the same degree as the 5900s the frame and slide are little larger because Smith did not take off the excess metal. I had a 457 and used a Sig 229 holster for it.

That makes sense. Thanks for the reply.....I may try one of the hybrid type holsters (Crossbreed, White Hat) and heat that badboy up with my wife's hairdryer until 909 fits!!!

i have a 910 and i was able to use sig holsters older smith holsters ala a 5906 one and even a glock holster they all fit ok depenging on the model. the frame is a little wider but mine is accurate as alll get out.

Hi C Rain, and welcome to the forum!
Your 909 is the last rendition of the model 39 Smith! Congrats on finding one!
Holster wise anything that will fit a 5900 will work with your 909, since the slides are the same. Also as mentioned above some SIG holsters will work as well.
How much were the magazines going for? Dale
