I was at a gun show today and I picked up a box and a half of Smith and Wesson factory ammo. Is this ammo worth anything of value? The headstamp is a -F. I know people collect the boxes but what about the ammo?

Thanks, James

A full box in excellent condition may go for $15 +/- for someone interested in S&W ammo. If it is the Nyclad ammo, may be $20 or so.

S&W-F stamped ammo was from when Fiocchi got involved with S&W.

I see. Nyclad ammo, is that the stuff back in the 90's that was so called "cop killer bullets"? I guess I will just shoot it since I thought it would be worth a little more. Oh well.

S&W developed the purple/blue colored nylon coating for their bullets that ignorant anti-gunners thought was some type of "Teflon" coating that made them "armor piercing" like the KTW loads. When the S&W ammo like went defunct Federal Cartridge bought the rights to the Nyclad product.

So that was the ammo! I thought so. For years I was trying to think of the name of the ammo.

Thanks, James

I would think it's gotta be worth at least as much as any other box of similar current ammo is going for in your area plus a little more for the special interest box.
