The Shield Nickel was produced from 1866 through 1883. The one used for the front sight would be dated 1867-1869, as the 1866 had rays between the stars on the reverse, and the first photo shows that there are no rays between the stars.

2ng model with jinks letter, shipped in 1873 to New York. Brass replacement front sight.

Also got an empty empty box of US brand ammo from the period.slim Jim holster has cheap and is a pretty good fit.

My US American 1st model shipped March 1871 and a cartridge box from the following month.
