http://www.flickr.com/photos/58838202@N07/6920355056/in/photostreamThe year is only a third of the way through and I have already bought 3 third gen autos 4566 4516 and a 410 they were all super deals on Gunbroker.I just feel a window is closing on getting 2nd and 3rd gen guns at a reasonable price.Lnib examples have gone up a bunch in the last year and I feel the flood of police trade ins will start to dry up and when they do the price on these will go up.I guess what I am asking is are other people seeing the same trends in S&W autos as far as pricing.Links below

Prices seem to be all over the place. Gun show prices seem to be lower than online prices, go figure. I guess the good news is, also inexplicable to me, that there seems to be more of them available than in the recent past and not just LEO trade ins.

I don't see these running out anytime soon. Just wait until the LAPD gives up their 4506's and 5906's...we'll see plenty of them around.

Wow I hope so there are still so many to get IE 3913 4006 5906 or a 5926.I just hope Obama gets voted out so that guns will cool off a bit and deals will start coming back

Not likely. I know NYPD has a policy to not let any guns go into private hands. Seeing how Cali is the most anti-gun state in the union I doubt that we'll see any trade ins coming from there. I could (hopefully) be wrong.

But they are hurting for money with tax revs being down.

But you are likely correct remember how the current administration was willing to stop selling brass from the army to commercial reloaders and scrap it to the Chinese or Indians for about 10cents on the dollar to what reloading firms would pay.I do hope you are wrong but that is a likely scenario.I had already googled and found out they have 9500 officers in the lapd and that would indeed be a bunch of Smiths for sale.

New York City is also the lion's den for gun control with Bloomberg in control. I think California is also in more of a bind and would do whatever it takes to help it out a bit. I do have a former LAPD Beretta 92FS as well, so they at one point must have sold off old guns. :)

S&W Semi auto spree II

I too have been on a S&W auto spree. I bought a 39-2 (purchase in progress) a 3913, a 59, a 5906, and a 4506-1 since January. Not bad since I'm a wheel gun guy too! But these S&W semi auto's keep showing up at prices I can't refuse:D I'm not buying because I think we won't be able to, just because I can:eek:

How do you like the 59 compared to the 5906? I love my 5906, and have kicked around the idea of getting a 59. I really don't need it, and I'm worried that, compared to the 5906, I feel like I wasted my money. However, it was the first US "wondernine" so I want it.:D

Prices seem to be up on most guns, at least the ones I am interested in. Seems a lot of people are concerned about gun ownership with the current administration. I just hope reloading supplies don't leap up in cost - or worse, become difficult to obtain. AMMO, the currency of the new millenium.

But..but...evil guns! I'd feel much safer incinerating those useless, evil guns. Gun owners only want to kill people.

I almost got sick typing that, but thats how much of SoCal thinks. Not so much the Northern parts of Cali however.

The 59 I bought is a NIB Nickel safe queen as us the 39-2 on its way. The 39-2 is blued. I got both of them from the same person. These are the only 2 safe queen autos I own. I wanted a 39 and an original wonder nine "59" for collection. The rest are shoot and shoot often. So I can't tell you the difference between the 59 & 5906. I will say all 3 3rd gen guns are sweet shooters. The 5906 is very comfortable to shoot, very accurate and easy to field strip. I love them all!!:D My favorite is the 4506-1.

The California Department of Corrections recently traded in some guns which are being resold.

Im the same way,Im not rich but make a good living and I dont golf,my sole hobby is firearms and has been since I was a boy. When I see a Smith for a really good price I just havent been able to pass them up,I still remember when I was 10 or 11 and we were at our local gunshop and the owner was a friend of my Dad and he would save things he thought my dad would like in the back and one day he pulled out a nickel 59 and I thought it was the greatest thing I had ever seen needless to say we didnt get it as he had just purchased one of the first Redhawks a few weeks before and it wasnt in the budget to purchase another firearm so soon and thats how my love of smith autos started.
