My S&W1911 - 108282 had that little ledge on the breach face that caused a little line on the cartridge head. It didn't affect the function at all, but because the gun was new, I wanted it to be right. I emailed customer service and received an email with instructions to send the gun in at their expense. The gun was back in my hands in 8 days, including shipping time. There was a letter with the gun describing the work that was done, including function testing.

You can't beat S&W Customer Service!

You're fortunate they fixed yours. They're typically now refusing to repair that unslightly problem, calling it within standards. Some folks I've heard from haven't been so lucky. I did get mine fixed, though, a couple years back, so that was nice.
