S&W Grip Adapter

:eek::eek:! And destroy a $400+ grip adapter? Horrors!!

Tell me you're joking, Kevin. Huh?

Guy,

Don't forget, I am the fellow who does this,

And a lot more. So, modifying something to save a wreck or make something not offered by the factory is not "taboo" to me.

As I look at this item, it occurs to me that a reproduction should be no challenge at all for a modern shop. The two side plates could be profiled with a water jet or plasma cutter and the hard rubber spacer could easily be made with a 3-D printer. I once had access to both technologies, but now that I'm retired, not so much. How about some of you other guys out there? Does anyone have a K frame example they could use to reverse engineer for the CAD drawings necessary? Actually, a talented CAD artist should be able to use a revolver grip frame and the pictures already available to do a pretty fair job of establishing the needed data points. How about it, some of you new young guys?

Could not the whole adapter be printed? Or is the material not strong enough to withstand recoil?

I have been looking for one of these reproduction versions made by the SWCA a few years back to go on my RM. Haven't seen one come up for sale for some time now.
They were not made by the SWCA.
They were made by Jerry Rodgers and Dave Ballantyne, hence the "J&D" marking. ;)

My RM, REG 1299 came with service grips and the Wesson Grip Adaptor. I have proper stocks but finding the adaptor, S&W or repo, has been a disappointing journey. Hopefully J&D will start making them again so I can at least get it looking like it once did.
