Hi all
Can you tell me what this set of grips will fit?
Serial number stamped 54175 or 64175 hard to tell.
2 1/4" tall 1 3/16" wide.
Almost fit my 32 safety hammerless. A little too long.
I plan to sell probably.
Maybe real old terrier?
Thanks
Mike

walnut stocks with large gold medallion 1911-1920. k frame round butt

The medallions are silver. Seems too small for k frame.
But I really don't know so you may be correct. Also stamped serial number?
I have an old k frame but it's square butt.
Thanks
Mike

My guess would be I Frame, modified for use on J (extra pin holes @ butt). But what do I know?

K Frame round butt grips would be just about 3" long. Page 118 of the Standard Catalog of Smith and Wesson (3rd Edition) shows a nickel .22/.32 Kit Gun with a round butt. Your silver medallions look gold in the photo, but that's apparently the lighting, so your grips might well fit a 1930's I frame.

Mike,

Your stocks are 1930s vintage with flat medallions, chrome plated over brass for the:

32 DA = 2.3" high

The extra pin hole was likely drilled for them to fit one of these below:

Others measure as shown:
32 Safety Hammerless = 2.37" high

38 Chiefs Spl Baby J only, 22, 32, & 38 S&W HE I frames (pre 1953 only), 38 DA, 38 Safety Ham., 38 Perfected, 38 SA = 2.5" high

The I and J use the same grips until 1953.

In 1953 the I and J still use the same size but they were lengthened 1/8". The pin hole location did not change however.
