Took my MOE 15-22 out a couple of days ago to shoot, and just got around to cleaning it today.

Was checking the gun over and noticed that the rear female ambi QD mount fell out. This is the first time I have shot it without the swivel attached to it (and only about the 3rd time shooting the gun) as I took the swivel out to use on my M&P Sport QD mount, so I suspect it was not properly installed as I only put about 150 rounds or so through it this time.

I called S&W customer service and they took my name and address, etc, but said they did not have any in stock currently.

Hopefully I can get one soon as I have been waiting for the front mount that I want to come in stock somewhere so I could mount up my sling.

Anyone else had this happen?

Is there a direct replacement part that can be purchased aftermarket that will fit directly into the MOE receiver?

I'm hoping to get one from S&W C&S, but not sure if/when they will get one to send to me.

What I think happened is there is a screw that connects both female cups together. S&W drilled out a small hole thru the rear of the rifle, then drilled out a larger hole the size of the cup and screwed the two cups together. The vibration of shooting just loosen up the nut and it fell out. That happens to handguns, rifles due to the stress and strain of controling the explosion of a cartridge, slamming slids, bolts and so forth. When you get a new one, just Lock Tight the nut with either red or blue Lotite and you will be fine. If you want use some 2 part epoxy to glue it to the hole after you locktite the screw, that will never fall out again.

Rule of thumb, when installing scopes, scope mounts, after zeroing it out, you need to take out the screws, add 1 drop of Lotite and re-install all screws back on the scope and mounts. This happens alot on handguns, sights, frame hand guard covers etc. it is normal in the shooting world.. You have no idea how many rear sights, slide lock levers, frame screws, scope screws, sling screws I've found on my range.. It comes with the territory.. I even lost my M&P Magpul pistol grip plastic cap 2 weeks ago, went back up there with Oakland PD was using the range, asked if I could look in the area where I was shooting the other day, an Officer found it and said, Here it is, just laying on the range ground. So glad, I don't have to buy another one..

Happened to me too. Fell out on the first trip to the range and good luck finding it in a bunch of shot brass. They sent me a whole new assembly, so I have an extra female attachment point if you want it. PM me and I'll send it your way.

Ragingyeti, thank you for the follow up. PM sent.

Thanks again for checking on that for me ragingyeti. It seems we are both missing the same part.

I called back to S&W today and after waiting a while and a few disconnects, etc (seems they are having phone issues and quite slammed with calls as well), I go connected to someone else and they took my info and provided a no charge order #. He indicated that they did not have the part in the regular parts stock but may be able to pull one from the production area and send it out.

I'll report back when I receive the replacement part, and will definitely loctite it when I install it.

Ya, sorry I couldn't help you out.

Like I said in our PMs though, they told me it would be a few weeks before I got my replacement and then it showed up in a few days anyway, so you might just have it sooner than you think.

Quick update: I'm still waiting for parts to come in at S&W. I've checked back with them a couple of times. A bit disappointing but I'm sure they will make it right.

Update: received the incorrect part today from S&W after waiting almost 2 months... Just shot them an email and will call in to customer service tomorrow.

The saga continues.

After finally getting in touch with a gentlemen named Frank in Customer Service (tried calling in a few times and ended up on hold for quite some time before abandoning the call a couple of times), I now have the proper part in my hands.

Seems there is no part number assigned to this and the receivers come in with this part installed, so I was told they would pull one from a receiver and mail it to me. That was Friday morning and I received it today.

Now I need to purchase some LocTite to make sure it does not happen again.

After a couple of missteps, S&W came through.

You want nothing stronger than BLUE LocTite; RED will make the installation permanent - you'll melt the mount before you get ever get it off using RED.

I am glad you got the it all settled eventually. S&W was good to me when the same thing happened. Bummer it took so long, but at least its solved I guess.

Sorry but RED=BAD idea.

Blue is fine for EVERYTHING firearm related with VERY few exceptions. This isn't one of them.

Amen! Stay away from RED LocTite unless you want a bond that can only be broken with chemicals or a torch.
