S&W M&P 15-22 Serial # Question

Hello All. I'm looking to pick up a M&P .22 as a Christmas gift to myself. I've read that earlier production models had some issues, several of which I've read about in this forum, and that newer guns have functioned better. Is there a particular serial # range to avoid? Any feedback would be welcomed. Thanks

i would go DUR or later. im not sure which serials between DUA to DUR were fixed, but if they let you seperate the receiver in the store look for blue springs.

My DTX has the blue springs and the second generation magazine showing the number of rounds, which in my case, is the long 10 round magazine.

I also heard on here the date code can be read on the box.
After Feb. 2010 improvements were made.

Mine is DUR and the build date is 0167.
0-2010
167 is the 167th day of the year.
