S&W M&P 9 LE309701 info requested

First of all, let me say what a fool I am. I had the opportunity to purchase this M&P 9 Law Enforcement model listed as new with factory night sights and three mags. Instead of buying it I tried a trade offer first and by the time the seller turned down my offer another forum member (local, not S&W Forum)bought it.

So my questions is:

Is it possible to purchase this pistol as a civilian? If so, any suggestions as to where?

And, the picture on the local forum showed the pistol wearing the darker textured grip as seen on the C.O.R.E. The seller stated he ordered them from S&W. Does that seem likely?

I don't see why he couldn't order the new backstrap from S&W. I was thinking of doing the same thing for my Pro.

You can buy LE guns if you qualify..

Prior military, fire fighter, airline crew, security, there's a lot of people that qualify....

There-in lies the problem, I don't qualify for LE purchases. I finally found this pistol listed for sale at a few LE suppliers. Interestingly it does not show up on any of the S&W pages, including LE sales. The new price for LE is less than the asking price for this pistol ($550.00) but with the additional back strap (from the core) and the limited availably for me to purchase it new I'm may buy it. The possible good news is the seller contacted me and says he has not heard back from the buyer so I may get another shot at it! I will post pics if that happens
