S&W M&P Shield 9mm Double Stamped Warning

I didn't direct that at you, so chill out. I would return it for replacement. Just don't think a few here need to use your situation as a stepping stone to diminish S&W reputation.

Understood and I do apologize. It actually is probably a rarity. Despite the error, S&W still makes one of the best products. I have the 40 Shield, Glock 26 Gen 4, Both XDS 9 and 45 and then the Shield 9. Actually right now the Shield 9 is hands down my favorite of the group. Although, the Glock is pretty sweet too, just a little bulky for CC.

It's all good, I tend to be a little defensive of S&W. I have no problem with them, like anything else, things get missed occasionally. There isn't a better company out there for support.. I own no less than 7 M&P pistols, have had a few minor issues, like mainly white dots falling out of the sight.. no biggie... I have a bottle of white out on my desk.. as for your situation, like I said... for fun.. GB it.. but no doubt, I'd probably want it replaced, call S&W.. they'll take care of you, or if your dealer was a really good guy and had another one in stock, he'd replace your slide with one off the shelf and deal with Smith, that's what I'd do.. if you were my customer.

What? It looks fine to me...

I'll bet :p

It's definitely an eye sore. It literally hurts my eyes looking at it and make me feel like I'm having a stroke or I'm severely drunk.

ETA: What's funny is if you watch the M&P production line videos, they laser that warning on there so that means they did it twice at two different angles?

Watch this vid, especially at 2:18.

Hey, this is the entitlement era...

I'd demand a new gun, and keep the old one. Then I'd demand a few mags for my trouble.

I'd probably demand some monetary compensation for my time, and maybe some money for my feelings too.

Maybe you could get a new house out of the deal. I mean, they did ruin a very happy moment of your life, and you will NEVER get that back again.

Just kidding... I'd call them... ;)

Bah! Never mind all that stuff. Small potatoes.

I'd ask for a couple bricks of .22LR!

:D :D :D :D

I was looking at some older Smith & Wesson revolvers and saw a few with double stamped S&W logo's on them, I was shocked that they were selling at much higher prices than a properly marked revolver. Its sure is ugly though. Its bad enough having it on there once.

I'll say this, like many others have said, should have been caught by QC. This could be a known problem, but is overlooked & passed due to demand, who knows. I love my Shield and I'm glad it's a pre-release made gun. This type of thing will not help S&W in going up against the new XDs 9mm. IMO

Their QC must be suffering a bit lately. When I bought my shield this week the store had another brand new 9mm shield there, 9mm barrel, 9mm mags, box said it was a 9mm...the slide? That said 40.

Everyone knows those "bricks" of 22 are just a myth..... :D :D

I dunno, it would probably drive me bat**** crazy too, and I would end up sending it back..... I think shielded is right, I think S&W had no idea that there would be such a demand for these guns... so they are letting qc slide a little, or hiring losers to do the qc.....

Just out of curiosity, are you in a state that mandates that warning Eef97? I would think they would ship out readable ones to states that mandate, and maybe us sates that don't can get the culls instead of waiting forever?

Wouldnt even care. These arent collectibles and when or if they will be will be whenever. If it functions whats there to worry about

For me it would reside in a IWB holster under a shirt. Not really my problem if my friends dont like it but most of them wouldnt care either.

For crying out loud... it's just a double stamp.. chill out.. you act as though S&W is going down the tubes. Some of you guys are the same guys that'll cry that you have a gun on back order from them.. wa wa wa.. why is it taking so long.. or the same guys that'll cry about the price going up... when they hire more workers to check the warning stampings...

EXACTLY what he said

ThThatat dodoesesn'tn't boboththerer meme aa bibitt!! :D

Seriously, you guys are just waaaaay to picky. I think it adds character! ;)

Since the demand is so HIGH for these, Smith probably figured no one would care so sent it out for sale. I don't see a problem with it, its not like its a high grade collectible or anything. :p

If I were to demand a new slide, I'd ask for one without the warning on there at all.

I am from Illinois (Southern Part), so I am not sure if the warning is required. My father has a Shield to, and he switched me out slides because he said he didn't care, and it was something different. So basically I suppose we will keep it but maybe call and let them know just so they are aware of the QC issue.
