I know this is a S&W forum, but it doesn't hurt to ask.
Anyone have both M&P's and Glocks?
How do they compare?
Never owned a M&P, but own two 9mm Glocks.
Sometimes they suprise me, and sometimes they seem tough to shoot well.
Anyway, a local shop had a used M&P 45 for $420, and I've been wanting something in 45acp.

Having owned both, I'd say quality and reliability are about the same, as is mechanical accuracy. Triggers are usually better on the Glock. The biggest difference is how they feel in your hand. Some like the Glock, some the S&W. I had a M&P .45c. I liked the way it handled, but I actually shot my .45 Glocks better, in large part to the better triggers. Best to handle both, and decide.

Can't go wrong with either...Glocks have more accessories and are easier to disassemble...S&W's look better but looks are only skin deep!

Have an M&P Pro L, and two Glocks, a 34 & a 19.

All great guns......find which one fits you better, you can't go wrong.

Pretty much this right here.

Well, you asked...see how many different opinions you get? ;)

I have owned both, but no longer own the Glocks. They were fine, but the grip angle was wrong for me. Yes, they had better triggers, but only marginally. The ergonomics of the M&P are so much better, it was worth the Apex upgrade I did. Now the M&P 45 is my second favorite handgun.

The price of $420 is good. I'd pay more for a used M&P 45 if it were in good condition.

S&W M&P Vs. Glocks

I have a G19 (9mm)
and a S&W M&P Shield in 9mm.

The G19 (compact) 9mm
Was my EDC.

Now it's the Shield.
The trigger pull on my Shield is at least
as good as on my G19. (I got lucky; no
trigger work needed).

Some hate the manual safety on the Shield,
but new ones are now available without it.

I don't mind the safety but take it off once holstered.

P.S. The Shield subjectively, shoots as accurately as the
larger G19 & feels just as good if not better.

I've only owned one Glock, a 19, and i agree with what others have said about similar build quality between that and the M&P.

That said, I traded the Glock for a M&P 45 and I am very happy that i did. Since then, I have purchased a few more M&P's. No more Glocks.

And yes, while some do like the Glock triggers better, I don't really notice any difference. To me, these are not really target/range guns (practice does make perfect) designed for pinpoint accuracy at longish ranges, these are tools for putting lead into a threat at personal combat distances where adrenaline is going to wipe out any appreciation of reset or trigger nuances.

If they carry small, present cleanly and go bang every time you haul back on the trigger with that fight or flight heart rate... In that case, the triggers are the same, basically.

The M&P feels good in either hand and this comfortable grip instills confidence that the Glock did not provide.

For your second question, $420 is not bad, assuming the original box and mags, etc are with it. An extra mag or two makes that an even better deal.

Good luck with the choosing to you.

I have 5 Glocks and 2 M&P's. I like Glocks, they are easy to work on, their triggers are good, but not as good as my triggers from ATEi. I have RMR's on the M&P's and the 9c is my main carry gun now that I have an RMR on it. I'm getting a holster that will take a TLR-3 and that will be my go to carry gun. If I feel the need for more oomph, then the Glock 32 or 33 gets the call. I may put an RMR on the G32. I really like the .357 Sig, but I shoot the 9mm a lot better/faster.
