S&W M39-2 date of manufacture

Greetings all !

I've just purchased a like new Model 39-2, serial number
A3005**, along with a NIB Peters Stahl .22 conversion kit. Can anybody date the year the Smith was built ?

My guess would be 1975 or 1976. If you get a chance post a picture, I personally feel that the 39/39-2/439 were the some of the best looking semi-autos made and would enjoy seeing another one.

Thanks for the info J.D., as I purchased the gun from Germany it will be month before the registration/import/export procedures are thru, then I'll post some pictures.

I know this is an older thread . I have a 39-2 with nickel finish/blued hammer etc. with the the serial #A4172XX. Anyone Know the approx time period it was born? BTW, this is a great forum with lots of shsred knowledge! Thanks.
