Hello all,

A few related posts, my own interest, and a little extra time has me wanting to run some statistical models; I know, weirdo right? The theory I am trying to prove revolves around the relationship between age and S&W Revolver ownership (I've decided to also throw in gender as to see that relationship as well, I understand there may not be many female members, consequently yalls participation is even more important for accurate results). To complete this research, I'll need a sample from you ladies and gentlemen. Many of you will consider these questions too personal and I completely understand if you don't want to answer and I'll apologize for any offense given. I'll need as large a sample size as I can get for the most accurate results, but will need at least 200 members to chime in to have a large enough sample size for any results. I do plan on sharing the results of this research with all members. I do plan on seeing slightly skewed results based off the most common demographic this board being S&W owners that come here to talk to other S&W owners. However, I do think the ratios will draw a parallel with non-forum members

To expedite the process if everyone could adhere to the following format, it will be much easier for me to transcribe into stata.

1. Age?

3. Do you own a S&W revolver?
4. How many S&W revolvers do you own?

I've had a few individuals send me their data in a private message. If you'd rather do this, I understand, and appreciate the data however I can get it. Even if you own zero S&W revolvers, your data is important to the model I'm running and I urge participation. Thanks again!

Your model will be skewed if this forum is your only data source, as this forum users are a specific subset of S&W revolver owners and will have a defined demographic set.

My model will only be skewed if I apply the data outside of this forum. I have accounted, as I mentioned in the OP, for this and expect the ownership answer to absolutely be skewed. The number of revolvers owned, however, I expect to be a much more accurate portrayal of age and ownership in general. In addition to this, due to any member's, including my own, fanboy status, if a significant relationship is established here, you can expect general numbers to be below that mean. Where is hard to say, but it will be below, and that information alone tells an important story. The data collection for this question is absolutely no simple feat, especially since, to the best of my knowledge, I am the first to attempt to compile any data on the particular subject.

Of course I am collecting data outside of this forum as well, I just haven't decided exactly how I'll use it in conjunction with this data. I will most likely keep data sets seperate and run several ANOVAs to see if there are significant differences between them, if their aren't, then data from this forum will be also be applicable to the general population as well.

This is all a moot point if I can't get enough participation. That being said, please, consider sharing your data.
