S&W Mod. 10 with odd Stamp .

I just put on hold " till I can pay it off " , a S&W Mod. 10 with a 2" barrel . It has authentic Stag grips of all thing's and an odd stamp on the left side of the frame just aft and down of the cylinder .
The stamp is CPD surrounded by a circle . CPD is incorporated in the circle , it's part of the circle .
Anyone here know what I'm talking about ?
And don't feel bad if you don't know what I'm talking about , My wife tell's me that I don't know what I'm talking about all the time .
Or anyone have any idea's ?
I was told that it may be a specialy run S&W Mod. 10 for the Chicago police department .
Any idea's will be greatly appreciated .

If you have done so, I would invite you to post in the revolver section, lots more traffic and some pretty smart folks there to answer your questions. I don't have a clue. Possibly could be a police stamp but really hard to say.
