S&W model 1006 prices

I paid $75.00 for mine.......It went through a pawn shop fire.....Fire smoked it up badly and the very bottom of the grips melted in small areas.....I tore it down and cleaned it up and added new grips and a new magazine butt plate.......It has adjustable sights and I have enjoyed it for many years.

The problem with that is they don't do it at the grocery store or with utility companies, etc, etc, so why insult/waste the time of a gun seller?

Because it's part of the used gun world and it's worked well for me; savvy gun sellers expect it and price accordingly. I can't remember the last time I didn't get to enjoy some good haggling.

That's the more desirable model. The models with the goofy factory adjustable rear-sight don't bring as much.

Your opinion only.......I don't like "kentucky windage".......Adjustable sights allow me to hit where I want............Buy the way. Which one do you own?

Agreed that the adjustable sight set up is better.

Both of mine have it, great for setting up for different loads. My 1066 has the fixed sight, it is not nearly as good.

How is the trigger on a 1006?

There are others on this forum far more qualified than I to opine. But I will offer my two cents. I think it's a great trigger, in both SA and DA modes. Very smooth, even pull with a clean break. It is everything I like in DA/SA. My particular example may be helped by having been shot quite a bit by previous owners, so it's completely broken in.

Just saw a 1076 at the LGS. Price was $950. Don't know what all came with it.

both of my 1006s came from the factory with adjustable sights.

I like them much better than the fixed sights on my 1066 or my two 4566s.
