S&W model 1006 prices

Hmmmm......Wonder what my unfired 4546 that still has stickers on it and of course it's "box and papers" would go for? Of course, a few mags included.

There's a used one GB for quite awhile now. No box. He's asking $1650. I doubt he'll ever get. If it was NIB with docs, it would probably sell. I would even consider it.

Everyone else who loves these guns also loves to hear that you would never pay $1,000 for a 1006. More for us! :D

Right on! And 4506517, I expect there is no way you would pay today's outrageous prices for your 1006 mag stash either. You should probably sell them to us fools. Preferably at 1992 prices.

Mine was $539.95 in July 1992. I'm afraid to convert that to 2024 dollars.

I'm not afraid. That would be $1,212.46 in November 2024 prices: Inflation Calculator

Meaning a clean 1006 for $1,000 is a deal!

Haha, I should clarify my -FEAR!-

I wasn’t afraid of how much a 1006 could or would or “should” or might or does or will or won’t be priced at here in 2024.

My fear is what time and politics has done to the actual value of a $US Dollar. It is often described as scary, my feelings are more in the arena of sadness.

On-topic: my 1006 was my first S&W semiautomatic pistol. As it turns out, the first of wow so many. :D

I understnad the fear, but I don't think this illustrates a decline of the US dollar. Would you pay $1212 for a brand new, never fired 1006 in November 2024 prices (sorry, December not out yet). I would, in a heartbeat, and so would most people on this thread. It would be competitve in the current marketplace agaisnt a new Sig 220 in 10mm.

Well, we seem to be mixing the past with the present.

I would be avoiding this like the plague if the Smith & Wesson operating right now were building them. These guys are horrendous and an embarrassment to the brand.

Pretty cool 1006 on one of the auction sites right now if anyone is interested in seeing what the market dictates. As they say, they’re worth what someone is willing to pay for them. If you see my avatar you can tell I’m a bit of a fan of the 3rd gen SS S&Ws. You could say they were my gateway to all things S&W.

1006

Gave $1250 for mine, excellent condition with box and papers. Not a steal, but a fair price IMO. Mine has the adjustable sights, a plus in my book!

When did you buy your 1006?
I have one I want to sell and looking at what price to set this at. Mine is in very good condition, low round count with box, paper work, all the wrapping paper, chamber flag, that little black plastic display thing, and a pin punch.

With one mag, sell it fast at $1100.
With two mags, $1500 firm…:D

What style rear sight does yours have?

I paid $75.00 for mine.......It went through a pawn shop fire.....Fire smoked it up badly and the very bottom of the grips melted in small areas.....I tore it down and cleaned it up and added new grips and a new magazine butt plate.......It has adjustable sights and I have enjoyed it for many years.

The problem with that is they don't do it at the grocery store or with utility companies, etc, etc, so why insult/waste the time of a gun seller?

Because it’s part of the used gun world and it’s worked well for me; savvy gun sellers expect it and price accordingly. I can’t remember the last time I didn’t get to enjoy some good haggling.

That’s the more desirable model. The models with the goofy factory adjustable rear-sight don’t bring as much.

Your opinion only.......I don't like "kentucky windage".......Adjustable sights allow me to hit where I want............Buy the way. Which one do you own?

Agreed that the adjustable sight set up is better.

Both of mine have it, great for setting up for different loads. My 1066 has the fixed sight, it is not nearly as good.

How is the trigger on a 1006?

There are others on this forum far more qualified than I to opine. But I will offer my two cents. I think it’s a great trigger, in both SA and DA modes. Very smooth, even pull with a clean break. It is everything I like in DA/SA. My particular example may be helped by having been shot quite a bit by previous owners, so it’s completely broken in.

Just saw a 1076 at the LGS. Price was $950. Don't know what all came with it.

both of my 1006s came from the factory with adjustable sights.

I like them much better than the fixed sights on my 1066 or my two 4566s.
