I was fortunate enough to see this Smith & Wesson Model 12 in my local gun shop's display case yesterday, and bought it.

The revolver is in pretty good shape. Inside the yoke is stamped "Mod. 12-2", and the serial number is D720282.

I bought one of these new in the early 1970s and foolishly let it get away. I've been looking for a good example for the past five years or so.

Would someone be so kind as to look up the manufacture or shipping date for me? Thank you very much.

Looks like a nice one, the anodizing on these is fragile and most show at least a little high edge wear. It appears to be a 1974 shipped gun. Enjoy!

Nice find! Glad you rescued it.:D

I have a 12-2 RB 4in and am looking for a 2 inch to accompany it.

There's a 2" RB 12-2 at my LGS I have been eyeing for a while, hoping it will stick around for a couple months till finances catch up with me

Nice, I would like to find one like that for a good price.

I stumble on black SB snubs fairly often in south Florida and an occasional black RB.

The nickel RB snub seems to be hardest to find followed by the 4".

Any chance your gun has a serial numbered cylinder and barrel?
They stopped that pactice years before but I see it occasionally on mid 70's era Model 12's .
