Good evening :)
I try to change the firing pin of my Model 17, because some cartridges don´t work. I removed all what I could remove, but I have no idea, how the firing pin get removed.
Can someone pleas get advice to a german shooter?
Best Regards in advance

The problem of not firing could possibly be from the ammunition being used, or if it's leaving a light strike, the mainspring could be weak...Either of these problems are easier to fix than changing a firing pin...And welcome to the forums...;)...Ben

I agree with Truckman. Unless the tip of the firing pin is obviously broken, you don't want to try and change it.

Spray it heavily with cleaner to remove crud in the firing pin mechanism. Investigate the mainspring or faulty ammo as the most likely reasons for not firing.

Remove the grips, soak complete gun in solution of 1/3 Automatic transmission fluid, 1/3 kerosene or diesel, and 1/3 acetone or pure alcohol. Soak for several days, work action from time to time.

Do no dry fire rim fire revolver without dummy rounds or spend brass ot fring pin could strike edge of chambers and damage

I found the solution! I forgot that I bought the Jerry Kuhnhausen book "The S&W Revolver" while on holiday in the USA. Many years ago! And there's an exploded view in there. The firing pin is really difficult to remove! Thanks for your efforts!

I would only add that this should be done with a sealed container to avoid evaporation, or even worse, the chance of fire......Ben
