My father gave me a Smith & Wesson 19-4 revolver as a gift. I already own a S&W 5904 and do not need another gun in the house. The gun is Blue Steel and in "mint" condition. What do you think it is worth. I will post a picture soon. Thanks.

At 100% condition with original box & paperwork, around $475. Slightly used with no box & paperwork, $350.

19-4 are pinned barrels and recessed cylinders.
Price depends on your barrel length and true ["mint"] condition and whether or not you have box, papers and tools.
If it's a 2 1/2" barrel, they are bringing over five bills.

Before sell it you ought to at least shoot it a few times. You dad gave it to you. I promise, one day you'll wish you had it back. The model 19 combat magnum is one of the finest ever made. I have two 19-4s and I would never sell them unless a real emergency changed my mind. Here's what my two look like:

I would seriously think about shooting before you get rid of it. I just started getting into revolvers in last year, the 19 is perfect.

I join the chorus on keeping it. If you sell it, you'll spend the money and never remember on what.
It is not unusual to have two or more handguns. As for price, that can vary regionally. If one came up for sale in the local gunshops in my area, it would be priced at $500 or so and would sell within a couple of weeks.

What are memories worth? I have a 19-4 nickel 4"bbl I got from my parents in 1980. My advice: DO NOT SELL!

My Dad has passed on and the two guns he gave me are priceless.
One is an old Remington shotgun that he bagged many pheasants with. As a kid I'd tag along with my Model 12 trying as hard as I could to be as good a shot as my Dad.
The second is a Nazis Baby Browning that he pulled off a German Pilot. Dad was a an anti-aircraft gunner first class and served aboard two Destroyers in the battle of the Atlantic. After the battle if conditions allowed, they'd search for survivors and one time Dad pulled a German Pilot up into the search boat. He had this pistol tucked in a shoulder holster.
If you really need to sell one of the guns, I'd be keeping the one your Dad gave you. You may be glad you did as time passes by.

In 2007 I gave my son the model 19-2 6-inch I used to shoot the second highest score (up to 1976) at the Missouri Highway Patrol Academy . I waited until he was in a position (married, purchased his own house ETC.) to keep it.
He didn't know I was going to give it to him.
I put it in a S&W presentation box with the newspaper articles and my badge.
I hope someday he will pass it on to his son, my grandson, who is now 7 yrs old.

+ everything on keeping something you dad passed down. My dad didn't give me anything but bad memories, but my grandfather, I have his Weatherby 243 Vanguard, one of the early ones when they started the Vanguard line....might only book at a few hundred, but i wouldn't trade it for any combination of Win 70s or HD pre-wars...
go out and shoot some and that might change your mind...especially having a wheel gun to balance out the auto...
if you do sell it, in Fort Worth I saw a really pristine used M19 for $410 at a shop...no box or papers

As everyone has said and I hope you understand, Mod 19 = $350/400. Dads gun, Priceless.
Was in your exact position a number of years ago...did the worse thing possible...I sold it. Don't remember for how much or to whom I sold my dad's model 19 4". He passed away almost 20 years ago and am sure has forgiven me, I on the other hand have not. GF said it VERY well...Dad's gun...PRICELESS...For what it is worth KEEP it, You will never regret it!
