OP, you have a nice looking 1950. I really like the 1950's and have half-heartedly been looking for one.
I keep running into 1917's and falling to their charms.
Here is the granddaddy to yours.....



I use mostly no moon clips with .45 ACP ball, but keep a chopstick available for a sticky case. Sometimes I use moon clips because it makes the experience a bit quicker. In the past I just used .45 AutoRim, but it doesn't show up for sale at reasonable prices now like it did a decade or so ago. No matter what I use, shooting the .45 in a revolver is a good time for me. I rarely go to the range without one.

No Richard the trigger shoes are a after market product.
If your not going to holster the gun they are fine but they became frowned on do to the fact they are wider then the trigger guard and can cause a accidental discharge when holstering the gun.

Understand, I'm probably not going to shoot the gun, and definitely not going to put it in a holster. It's in too good of shape for a holster. And I got it cheap enough to collect. Thanks

Very nice pre-26, don't see them for sale very often. I'll show two below, one in bright blue finish I bought more than 20 years ago and another I traded for a few years ago. On the 20 years ago buy, it was at a gun show in Dallas, the older gent I bought it from apologized for it wearing the wrong stocks. The picture may be good enough that you can see the stocks were "cokes." Sorry about the quality of the picture but it is an old one. Great gun you have, enjoy it.

I also have model 1955 (pre-25), and I totally agree. They are very different guns in weight and balance, but great fun to shoot.

The serial number range is S76212-S211000. That would include model marked examples (Model 26). I have never seen one with the model stamp, not counting the commemorative Georgia Highway Patrol model.

Never could afford a Model 1950 Target.
A friend has one and I shot it at the range.
At 25 yards one ragged hole in the X ring.

Awesome shooting for this "Senior Citizen".

Richard I don't know if your planning on shooting your 1950 and some might disagree with this but with mine it shoots jacketed bullets much better then lead due to the shallow rifling.

That was also my experience. I think hard cast lead might work better. Factory AR bullets are pretty soft and the ammo was hard to find.

I didn't want to fool with clips so I sold the gun and got a M-29. Figured for that much bulk, I could carry more power.

At that time, I had no idea how rare the M-1950 Target .45 is. Today, I could probably sell it to a collector and get a M-629-3 and money to spare.

I was wondering if someone could pass along any additional information on this SW 1950 .45 6 1/2" SN is S 97787.
I believe it is 5 screw. 3 showing on the side, 1 under the grip and one on the front of the trigger guard.
I am not familiar with the target hammer and trigger or how to identify any other manufacturing varieties produced at that time
