Greetings,

I enjoy target shooting the most with .38's and up. My favorite as of late has been reloading and shooting for the .44 magnum. My goal was to find two that were not in perfect shape, which I could carry on the farm and enjoy using for target practice. A few bucks out of pocket and several years searching (locally, mostly) I found em'.

I thought for a moment to trade this one....another nice gun came up and I thought about it. After considering it for a day or two, I realize I simply can't trade or sell this one at any price. It is something I don't worry about collectability, etc. given that it has bluing loss and a few nicks here and there.

I modified a few items for target shooting. The grips have been cut and slightly rounded...I found this fit better in the hand, personally, compared to a N frame combat for general usage. Hammer, trigger, spring, have been modified slightly for a smooth action. Have a nice floral carved holster for it; however, I have no clue what happened to it. It's here somewhere.

Anyways, here are some pics I hope you enjoy. Feel free to post your plinking 44s.

My model 29 w/ 4" barrel always see a lot of shooting . I put on a pr of pc magnas grips . IMO target grips just look too big on 4" 29's . I have fairly large hands but those grips work well . I reload , shoot everything from " mild to wild " . I would not think of letting it go . Hope you enjoy yours too .

I've always enjoyed having a "keeper" along with a "rough and tumble" gun. That way you don't need to fret about damage to the workhorse as long as you maintain it - no beauty contest winner, but totally utilitarian. Your new piece looks quite sweet! Very nice indeed.

Thank you for the post about a working gun instead of yet another post about a "collector" one.

I likewise have a 4 x 44. Mine wears goodyears and I replaced the target trigger with a medium size smooth face one.

In fact I have three 4" working guns; Model 10-6, 27-2 and my 4 x 44. With a good holster they all will both last mine and my kids lifetimes.

I really enjoy my 4" 29-3. Couldn't find a -2.
Really nice carry piece.
Yours looks very nice. I like what you did with the grips, too.
