Hey Guys & Gals, I am looking for information on my 29-3 Classic Hunter. I have the box and papers for my Smith except the adjustment of the front sight.
The question I have is, How do you know if it was made for Lew Horton?
Thanks, Hank

I might be wrong, but I don't think the 29-3 Classic Hunter with the 8 3/8 inch barrel was a LH model. Best bet is to contact them directly with the ser #, and they will tell you.

Brain fart - I was thinking of the long barreled silhouette model with the adj. front sight. I think LH did do a 6 inch model. I would contact them and ask.

SCSW3, page 201. The Classic Hunter. Lew Horton Special Model 29-3, 6 shot non-fluted cylinder, 6" full lug barrel adjustable four position front sight, white outline rear blade, blue finish. Hogue rubber combat grips, N Target Frame, square butt. Product code 101230. 5000 manufactured in 1987. ANIB (2006), $650.

I have that exact gun with the same product code and everything that H Richard posted. I contacted lew Horton and they told me it wasn't one of theirs??? Did S&W sell the exact same gun? I'm confused because I can't find anything like it other than the lew Horton models..

My gun was lettered, (I had forgotten), and my particular gun was shipped to Glenn Sanders Fur & Sporting Goods Co., Baldwin, IL July 21, 1988. It appears the information in the SCSW3 might be in error. The letter does state The Classic Hunter was produced in numerous variations of the Classic Hunter with a wide variety of barrel length from 3 inch to 8 3/8 inch as well as a different sight, fluted, and unfluted cylinder and grip combination. This model was so popular it has been expanded into numerous variations some with the barrel markings of "Model 29 Classic" and were manufactured on special request for various distributors.
