After replacing my Model 13-3 off-duty carry with my recently acquired Model 12-2 (because, after wearing a duty belt carrying a Model 686-6 all day, I needed less to carry), I had an epiphany. Smith & Wesson should reintroduce the round butt Model 12-4 with a Scandium frame, hence the S&W Model 312! With the strength of the Scandium frame, +P .38 Special or even .357 Magnum would be within the realm of possibility. Barrel lengths could be as short as 2 or 2.25 inches up to 3 or 4 inches.

Yes, 3" slim barrel, rnd butt, +P rated. I'd buy 2, even with the lock....

Okay, Smith & Wesson, you’ve brought back the Model 66. You have no excuse for not making some Scandium K-frames now with 2.75 inch barrels in either .38 Special or .357 Magnum! Do it!
