S&W Model 41- Help Needed

The rfo1 gun was now examined by a S&W rep/gun smith and the screw is factory original.
I understood: "PS—on another note MrX is reasonably certain the trigger screw is factory original. He believes older Model 41s left the factory this way. He said the purpose of that trigger screw is to take up slack."
Oh well I still can't wait for the M41.

civil1977,
I should clarify what forum member bigi said. The gunsmith ( he is the Western Canadian warranty rep for S&W ) said the screw "could be" factory original, he could not guarantee that with 100% certainty. He is pretty sure he has seen other early Model 41s with this top screw as well, again this is only his opinion. I think we should assume that the slack take up screw IS NOT factory original unless proven otherwise.

I am lucky enough two own 2 model 41's.. If you ever want to try a different grip look into Nill's..They are a little pricey and you have to wait for at least a month.. But i love mine..

My 46 does no have this screw at all and has no where to place it as well.

Well, it's tough to see where the screw attaches inside the frame. It looks like someone either modified the factory adjustable trigger mechanism to provide additional adjustment or added the screw to adjust trigger preload. I still don't think its factory.
