S&W model 60

There have been several threads about model 60s so I thought I would post this one. The serial number puts it in 1966 time frame. I bought it several years ago. The hammer had been bobbed and the inside had been BUBBIFIED. I returned it to S&W and told them top repair as needed. When it was returned the trigger had been replaced with a case hardened semi target and the hammer had been replaced with a case hardened semi target. The trigger pull was very smooth ,the best of any J frame I have ever seen. I showed the gun to Roy Jinks at the Bosie S&W meeeting and he thought the gun had been repaired Performance Center .

Very nice, though I do prefer bobbed hammers on most of my revolvers.

I normally prefer bobbed hammers on a J sized revolver, but my little 31-1 has the sweetest SA pull I've seen on a production DA revolver, this side of a Python.
Would be a shame to neuter it. Geldings aren't as good for paper punching or vermin shooting.
That is a nice 60.
I wonder what Smith would charge to reblue mine and install new service grips?

I don't know what it is about 'em, but I do like J frams and really like model 60's. My early '70's model 60 has a bobbed hammer too and was my EDC for a few years. It's back in rotation now. Nice one you got there.

The Model 60 is a great little BUG ,
Is your serial range from the initial run from 475001 to 480000 or is it the later version that came with case colored hammer trigger in the serial range 490001 to 712250 ?
That Pre 67 would pretty slick with diamond Magnas

The wide hammer & trigger are nice for slow single-action shooting, but I prefer a bobbed hammer for concealed carry & a smoothed-off narrow trigger for double-action work. My own 1979-ish model 60 is set up that way, as is my 1973-ish model 36. Interesting that S&W installed those parts-- maybe they were the only non-MIM parts they had in stock?
