S&W model 64-3 BBD prefix Serial number

Hi, Guys I hope everyone doing well. I have this S&W model 64-3 for a while now, a police trade in but I don't know what agency it came from. It's a DOA and the serial numbers start with the prefix BBD09xx . Can anybody tell me what year it was made, and what agency it came from. Importer was CAI Georgia Vt maybe 8 years ago. Do you mean a model 65-3 in .357? A model 63-3 is a .22 LR, a bit small for police work.

The prefix is likely from mid-1988. It has an importer's stamp so was likely used by a foreign agency. Century Arms International may have more information about it.

BBD is probably 1989. I suspect you mean DAO (double action only) rather than DOA. It is possible that CAI might be both willing and able to tell you who they got it from. You could get a letter on it which would almost certainly tell you where it went, assuming it was sold directly to a department. It might not have been.

SORRY, guys I type wrong number down it's a model 64-3 DAO 38 special.

If you send S&W an e-mail with the serial number, they can tell you roughly when it shipped, usually takes them 1-2 business days to reply.

I thing there is almost no chance they will tell you where it shipped however.
