I am thinking about buying a New S&W Model 64, and I did some reading and found out that for a few years they were made with a 2 piece barrel.

I also read that they are going back to a 1 piece barrel design at some point.

Now here is why I need help, is there any way to visually check if a S&W model 64 has a one piece barrel or a two piece barrel?

P.S. the reason I want a new one is because I have Never owned a New S&W revolver.

With the 2-piece barrel the muzzle will look like it has a "cap" on the end. For the Model 64 I think only the 64-8 is or was a 2-piece barrel. For the Model 67, for example, the 67-6 was a two piece barrel and now the new 67's without it are 67-5s. I believe that as long as you don't buy a 64-8 it will have a one-piece barrel.
