I had purchased a Model 66-2 snub nose when I first got interested in Smith and Wesson revolvers back in 2011 or so. I sold it for some unknown reason in 2012 and have regretted it ever since.
I had an opportunity to pick up a very nice 66-1 this past week end and will most likely not let this one get away.
Any of you guys picked up a 66 snub lately? Post a picture or two.
Here are a few pictures.

I have owned this one for quite a while:

A friend of mine carried a snub 66 in his car for years. Then he got a CHL and decided to trade it in for a gun he could more easily carry. The LGS saw HIM COMING!!! He delightedly took 150 bucks for it and when he told me I nearly fainted, especially since he knew I wanted it.

I paid a lot more for my 2.5" Model 19!!!

I am interested in buying a mod. 66-1. I am curious what the going price would be with the box and paperwork. They are a great gun, I use to carry one when I was a detective. That is an awesome find.

Probably in line or more with this one that just sold in the classified section here.

66-1

Here's a couple of pix of a shiny 66-1. The first is in the left foreground with the factory grips. The second is the same piece with after market grips. The others in the first pic are a 4inch 66-1, a 67 no dash, and a 60 no dash. Happy hunting for your 66

Paul, I've had a 2 1/2" Model 66-1 for 4 or 5 years. I picked it up after a heads up from Old Corp. Even though I prefer blued revolvers this one is one of my favored. In-fact Old Corp and I shot it a bunch last week. It shot like a champ with the following hand loads. .357 Magnum brass, 158Gr. LSWC ahead of 13.5Grs. of 2400. Bumping the amount of 2400 up to 14.9Grs, it breaths fire.

Remember the 2 1/2" M 19/66's are just about the best all around revolvers Smith and Wesson ever produced. Light enough to be easy to carry, but feel like a real gun in the hand.

Good luck getting that one. Keep us posted please.

Fred

A 2.5 inch barrel Model 66 with a bobbed hammer, dished trigger guard, and smoothed trigger is about as fine a defense firearm as you will ever have. I carried one for over a decade and my son has it now. I competed with it for awhile. One of the great carry pistols based on power, size, accuracy, durability, and dependability. Yep, I love them.

.

Unless you have a relationship with the seller if it's priced well then your opportunity is going to end very soon. It's difficult to argue against buying a 66-1 Snubby if you can spare the $.

Simply an excellent revolver. Got one a while ago and will never part with it. Nice to carry. Easy to shoot and potent for what you carry it for.....As much as I would like to have a blue 19 2 1/2", I don't think it could be any better than my 66-1.

That's a beauty, opaul! Pinned and recessed goodness! Now you have the opportunity to choose among the many different stocks available to show it off. Much as I like the PC ("plainclothes") magnas like yours from the factory, I gotta say that a pair of the target stocks with the speedloader cutout -- the "banana grips" -- are a gorgeous and practical option. Watched a pair of those sold as new old stock on eBay this week for $150, and kicked myself for not bidding them up. If factory combats are $300 stocks, then those target stocks have gotta be worth at least half that much, right?

Great pickup. Congratulations!
