I have a model 66-2 3", the serial number is AFZ3XXX, is there any way to find out if this is an Ashland gun without getting a letter? Also what are these guns going for, I couldn't find any for sale on Gunbroker. I have been on the fence about keeping it or selling it as of late. It has the box, tools which haven't been opened, and the paper work. I know the grips aren't original, but it has the combat grips, if it has been shot it hasn't had many round through it. I have included a picture below, thanks for the help!

I think all 3" 66-2s were Ashland guns. If the flood of buy offers about to fill your inbox aren't at least low four figures I'd tend to ignore them :).

Okay thanks, is the value in the 1000-1500 range or more like 1800-2000?

This is coincidental I was in the LGS on the way home from the grocery store a few hours ago & there was a 66-1 4" & a 66-2 3". Both had rubber pachs & in pretty good shape nothing like yours in the pics above. They were $650 & $850 for the 3". I liked the 3" & they were saying its the only one they have ever seen.

Wow, here in these parts, both of those were bargains, especially that 3".

I was very tempted with both (one or the other) but I stopped by to give them info on a 625-2 with great looking factory combats on it that I bought & I'm having it shipped there. I have spent a lot lately so I had to just leave & forget about them if you know what I mean. I can pass along the shop name & ph# if someone is interested.

My son sold a three-inch M-66 for $750 a couple of years ago. Don't know the dash number.

He's into autos and just picked up the .357 in a trade. I was too poor to buy it, but want one badly. If I get one, it won't be for sale. It'll be for carry. And to cherish.

With The Combats...You will see 1500+ on Gunbroker..Without I would guess 1300-1500.

Although You never know when you are going to get that Great Bidding War between 2 people that need one...

I also believe there were some RSR Distrubuted 66-2 3" guns. They were Overrun from the Original Ashland Order...

I am going to have to disagree with some of the above. They used to bring 1400-1800 about 15-18 months back on average for lnib/nib specimens. They have since then took a little dive from what I have seen watching them at auctions. Last one I seen was lnib and looked 98 percent or better and brought barely over 1200. Yes it did not have the combats grips which would fetch more for you. Also Jim, to my knowledge RSR never distributed any 66-2 3 inchers. The earliest was the dash 4.

I know the 4" was a dash 1 p&r because I opened the cylinder. The 3" I just handled & didn't open the cylinder. I think the shop employee said dash 2 but it must be a dash 4.

I ended up getting the gun. I needed a 66-2 3" to fill a perceived hole in my world. It should be an Ashland gun. I actually have a 66-4 3" inbound as well. The 66-4 3" is what I consider the best of the bunch and would most likely carry as well (already have a set of Nill's waiting for it). The 66-2 is to help my OCD with having a 66-2 2.5 and 4". Need the 3" to complete the trifecta of my love of cool 80's guns, which was when I carried revolvers for real on-duty.

The s/n prefix is the same as the Ashland guns I've seen. Product code on the box should be 102712, but that was common to many 3-inch guns. Even ones not for Ashland.

What's the special order number on the box? I'm guessing something in the 5110 to 5140 range. Which would be April - May 1985.

Why don't you post a pic of the end label.

Here is a picture of the end label. The special order number was 5113.
