Gentlemen: I would like to locate one of the above sweet guns but don't care to get ripped off or price gouged. Would rather avoid GB or GA simply because I do not know which dealers to trust. If anyone could point me in the right direction of some honest folks w/ which to deal I'd greatly appreciate it. This piece would be treasured & handed down. Thank you in advance. :)

An ad in the Classifieds perhaps. Also, keep an eye on the auctions of our head gorilla here, handejector.

I bought a 66 no dash 4" in prime condition just this week off Gunbroker. (Pics to follow when I've picked it up.) I understand your reluctance to deal there, but speaking for myself, I have never been disappointed by anything I have bought there, and that's well over a dozen items. I've also sold on there.

You might want to specify in any post about these whether you are looking for the no dash model with the stainless rear sight. Those are relatively rare compared to the ones with the black sight.

As for pricing, just to give you an idea, I got mine for $850 unfired, box and papers, unopened cleaning kit. I've seen them go for over $1,000 in that condition. If you found one in a gun shop, it would probably be less, but you'd have to be diligent and patient.

I have bought probably 10 guns on G.B. Look at the seller's ratings etc. Of the examples I purchased, my expectations were exceeded. (your results may vary)
Check classifieds here on the Forum. There are people here that will do you right. Bob

Hello, as has been said already try the forum auctions. I'm a newbie here but have traded and bought 3 times now on this forum. 3" model 66-4, 4" round butt 586-4, 3" 686-4. All different individuals who were honest and great to deal with. I'm very happy with my guns. This forum is full of extremely knowledgable and helpful people. Good luck in your search and I might add excellent choice in firearm.

Remember ......in the early 70s these were "Police first" guns.......so most "no-'s" saw police service..... so mint guns and guns in boxes are the exception........so I'd expect to pay a nice premium for a "anib" gun with "stuff".

That said I've managed to get "nice" all stainless and -1s over the years..... but not "minty"
